A new (ish) resident of Aptos, CA, Miriam Anton received both her BA from Hofstra University, NY and her MA in Art History from the University of Oregon in Eugene, OR. As an undergrad, she interned at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum as well as prominent galleries in NYC. Her master's thesis, "Seven Minutes in New York City: A Modernist Perspective on Charles Sheeler’s and Paul Strand’s Manhatta " combined her passion for cinema, modernist painting, and architecture in both European and American art. After graduate school, Miriam worked for Saskia Inc, a premier visual resources company, curating images and assisting scholars from global academic institutions with rights and reproductions for publications. She then worked as a gallery director and curator, for a leading San Francisco gallery in the early 2000s, and ran an independent online gallery until 2008 when her career pivoted to social media, corporate sponsorship, and business development roles for Silicon Valley-based media companies and non-profits. Her newly launched agency returns Miriam to her roots in the art world and her passion for supporting regional West Coast artists. Her goal is to focus on traditionally underrepresented groups, including female, non-binary, Black, and Indigenous artists of color within both public and private collections in the SF Bay Area and beyond. Building on this, Miriam was recently named Executive Director for Pajaro Valley Arts. She looks forward to making an impact for the organization through it's next phase of growth.
